The History of The Fairy Boutique
The story of The Fairy Boutique starts way back in 1999, when Lesley opened a boutique gift shop in the UK village of Toddington with her mum, Pauline. The shop was called The Teddy Bear Cottage and they offered a wide selection of plush cuddly teddy bears looking for loving hugs from their new owners. Many of the bears sold by The Teddy Bear Cottage were hand made, lovingly crafted by artisans from the local community. She also offered exclusive bears from world renowned manufacturers such as Steiff and Deans.
In 2002 Lesley took a break from work to raise her son and daughter with her husband, Richard, so Lesley and Pauline closed The Teddy Bear Cottage. Eventually both Lesley and her husband relocated to Northamptonshire with their young family, as did Pauline and her husband. Lesley did always desire to start a similar shop again with her mum in the future but sadly that dream never did happen; her mum Pauline sadly passed away very suddenly after collapsing on New Years Day in 2007.
Pauline had a passion for collectable figurines, such as miniature bears and fairies, and in particular she loved the Disney character Tinker Bell who now looks over her today upon her headstone.
The children are much older now but the world is a very different place. As we launch this website the world is suffering a pandemic of COVID-19 and mental health is an issue affecting so many. It is what we have all been through that inspired Lesley to focus on positivity and affirmation products, although fairies have always been at the forefront of her mind and why this website was first launched with the Fairies range under Hanging Gifts.
It was in memory of her mum and her mums love of fairies and mindfulness gifts that inspired the name The Fairy Boutique, and why Lesley first launched with a range of fairies before expanding her range to other affirmation gifts.
